Fire warden training at your premises
Practical, on-site training that gives your fire wardens the knowledge and confidence to act calmly and correctly when the alarm sounds.

Why your team needs fire wardens
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, employers must nominate competent people to carry out fire-fighting and evacuation procedures, and must give staff adequate fire safety training. Fire wardens (sometimes called fire marshals) are those people: they know the building, know the plan and take charge when it matters.
Your fire risk assessment will usually set out how many wardens you need and where. We can help you work that out for your shift patterns, floors and the people in your building.
What the training covers
- The role and responsibilities of a fire warden
- How fires start and spread, and common causes in the workplace
- Raising the alarm and calling the fire and rescue service
- Evacuation procedures, sweeping areas and roll-call
- Helping people who need assistance to evacuate, including personal emergency evacuation plans (PEEPs)
- Types of fire extinguisher and when it is, and isn’t, safe to use one
- Day-to-day checks: escape routes, fire doors, alarms and housekeeping
- Fire drills and keeping records
Delivered on site, around your working day
Training takes place at your premises, so it is built around your own building, escape routes and procedures rather than a generic classroom example. We arrange it at a time that suits your team, and it can follow on from your fire risk assessment so the two work together.
“Excellent fire warden training by Steve Haywood from Derwent Fire Compliance. Highly recommended.” — John Ashby
“I really enjoyed the course presented by Steve, he relayed the information we required in an interesting and informative way and it was all done with relevance to our working environment as he had already checked our fire awareness and equipment pre course. The course included some videos and a practical which was all good.” — Graham Snaith, Supervisor, Trelleborg Rotherham
